MEDIA MISSING IMPORTANCE OF SWIFVETS INTENTIONS
As usual, the Major News Media is missing the importance of what the Swiftvets and other veterans against Kerry groups are all about.
There are 26.4 million veterans in the U.S. An even more important fact is that veterans vote in larger numbers than any other group, including seniors (many who are veterans), soccer moms, 18-29 year olds, (most don't vote) or any other group of voters.
The purpose of the Veterans who are against John Kerry, of which I am one, is to pull as many veterans votes as possible away from John Kerry. This is not about reelecting George W. Bush, it is about defeating John Kerry.
We remember his anti-war, anti-military, anti-servicemen senate testimony from 1971. How could we ever forget. We consider that one act the worst betrayal of us in the history of the United States. We have long memories....but I digress.
If we can sway even one tenth (2.64 Million) of the veterans vote from Kerry, we will have stopped his bid for president. Recent polls show that we are succeeding, anywhere from 10% to 17% have changed thier minds about Kerry. A seventeen percent swing (4.48 million) will have produced a landslide vote against John Kerry.
Why is this so? A great majority of veterans live in the so-called red states which favor George W. Bush. Texas, Tennessee, Missouri, Pennsylvania and Ohio have historically led the nation in percentage of population who enlist in the military. Most of the veterans who served one or two tours of duty returned to thier home states. Most become productive and used their military experiances to build good lives for themselves. Many become civic leaders in thier respective communities. The vast majority of military retirees live in Texas and Florida.
If Kerry were to lose pennsylvania as well as the states that Bush won in 2000, this election won't even be close.
This is what we are about. This is a personal battle between veterans and John Kerry. George W. Bush is wise to stay out of it.
